" For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land. " Song of Solomon

Two Neccesary Things

Whether our goal is to lose weight or to maintain our weight, two things are necessary.

One is to monitor our food intake. Always, forever, period...no exceptions. Write it down and tally it up so you can know for certain what your total daily food intake is. Without that number you will be unable to adjust as necessary to achieve your goal of losing or not regaining . And just seeing the number rack up higher and higher has a cautionary effect.

The other necessary thing is to make our mantra "eat less food". Why? Because those of us who struggle with our weight are inclined to overeat. Eating less food must be our goal. We will forever desire to overeat, short of illness.

Folks---there is no magic bullet. Quit wasting your time, aye, quit wasting your life hoping to discover it. It does not exist.

I read this platitude at Escape for Obesity: "Being fat is hard. Losing weight is hard. Maintaining is hard. Choose your hard."

Given that thought, the choices being such as they are, what will you choose?

"....there have been many times when I have shed bitter tears, when if I had understood the situation better, I would have celebrated my good luck instead."
