" For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land. " Song of Solomon

THE WEATHER TODAY

The perfect weather today for lazing about, eating yummy food and thinking about plans for the new year:

gray, rainy, balmy.

The snow is gone and it feels like spring out there.  Mind you this won't last.  We will have cold weather before spring actually arrives.

And I don't think today's dark gray weather portends an ominous year forthcoming.

As a matter of fact I find dark gray weather comforting....like a cocoon...you can wrap yourself in it and shut out everything else.  Pretend that nothing else exists.  That is, until the sun bursts forth.

Once the sun is beaming down and light is spilling in it's back to reality.
The light reveals everything and covers nothing.

Unless it is blinding.
In that case--blinding light--you can't see and are in fact forced to close your eyes.

Too much light can be as bad as too little.
Great isn't it that God only allows us to see the future a little bit at a time.

Otherwise we might be so overwhelmed as to be frozen, stuck, unable to deal.
Yahweh--the God of Abraham, Jacob and Isaac-- gives us light and grace as we need it.

"....there have been many times when I have shed bitter tears, when if I had understood the situation better, I would have celebrated my good luck instead."
