" For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land. " Song of Solomon

Sometimes Simple is Best: Simple Pleasures

Fall is returning...not here yet but will be soon.

For a simple sensory pleasure do this:  add whole cloves to your sugar bowl and sugar storage container.

It is a bit disconcerting initially to open it and see dark brown things--think bugs...but oh my after a day or so the clove scent permeates the sugar and each time you lift the lid the sensory delight will waft its way to your nose.  Perfect for The Return.

As well, the clove scent is a foil for ants and other creepy crawlies I've been told.  Who cares if it works or not...the wonderful scent is the real gem.

Another sensory delight for this time of year:  a bar of gold or brown soap in the shower.  My favorite brown soap is Sandalwood, purchased at Whole Foods, their store line.  It's $4 and the most fragrant sandalwood I've found--best price, too.

But for cheaper eye candy the Dial brand gold bar--beautiful color.  Scent wise it's not much, but in my brown bathroom with accents of red and olive green, the gold along with the brown bar screams "fall is coming, fall is coming".

I love fun and I love cheap thrills.  And eye candy won't make you fat.

"....there have been many times when I have shed bitter tears, when if I had understood the situation better, I would have celebrated my good luck instead."
